During math block, we will learn and practice different subtraction strategies for large numbers. After recess and lunch, we will D.E.A.W and then we will edit our landmark paragraphs for Writing and Reading Block. This afternoon, we will learn about sustainable hiking.

Happy Friday Folks!
During math block, we will play Changing Places with 10,000 and then talk about addition strategies. After recess and lunch, we will D.E.A.W and continue typing our landmark paragraphs. This afternoon, we will read about “Booms and Busts” and then have Academic Choice Time since we went to the assembly yesterday. Next week, we will go on the Jud Wiebe Hike!

Welcome Ladies and Gentleman!
What a great day of conferences yesterday and celebrating your success! I think you created amazing goals! During math block, we will finish the Shark Attack worksheet. We will also create a 1,000 timeline in our notebooks. We will then explore 10,000 and begin playing Close to 10,000. After recess and lunch, we will D.E.A.W and start typing our landmark paragraphs. This afternoon, we will read about “Booms and Busts” and then have Academic Choice Time.

This morning I will be at the library for a conference, please be an “active and engaged student” for Miss C and your Guest Teacher:___________. During math block, we will subtract and add large landmarks numbers while on a road trip with a partner. After LUNCH and then RECESS (it is switched today L), we will D.E.A.W and start drafting our landmark paragraphs. While during reading block, we will read Dear Mr. Henshaw with our groups and we will work on our reading strategies. This afternoon, we will continue our research and plan our paragraphs!

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone enjoyed a very relaxing weekend after such a busy week last week. Did you see that 4th grade made the newspaper? During math block, we will first do some fact practice and then pretend we are on a road trip and subtract large numbers. After recess and lunch, we will D.E.A.W and continue to highlight our Landmark research and pick out 3 sub-topics. While during reading, we will have our first “normal” reading block. DRA testing is done and now everyone has a reading goal! This afternoon, we will continue our research and plan our paragraphs!

It was wonderful seeing your parents and families at Open House. I especially loved your enthusiasm when you gave them a tour! During math block, we will first do some fact practice and then both add and subtract from 1,000 by playing Changing Places. After recess and lunch, we will D.E.A.W and start highlight our Landmark research. While during reading, we will do the UTE BEAR DANCE with RIDGWAY AND OURAY. This afternoon, we will continue our research and plan our paragraphs!

Today is Open House!! I look forward to showing your parents our progress thus far and our colorful classroom. During math block, we will look again at the 1,000 timeline and subtract numbers from 1,000. After recess and lunch, we will D.E.A.W and finish the final draft of the Tombstone Limericks. While during reading, you will choose a daily reading choice while I work with small groups to work on reading goals. This afternoon, we will learn about UTE Indians and do a whole class BEAR DANCE!

Boy, did we have fun at Ridgway Railroad Museum and Bachelor Syracuse Mine! What was your favorite part? During math block, we will look again at the 1,000 timeline and play a game called Changing Places. After recess and lunch, we will D.E.A.W then turn our tombstone rubbings into writing! While during reading, we will continue DRA testing and will start making reading connections to our “Read with Someone” book. I will also meet with small groups to establish reading goals. This afternoon, we will learn about UTE Indians and do a BEAR DANCE!

Last week we brainstormed a list of tips for good teamwork. Can you remember the list? During Writing Block, we will do our first entries in our Writer's Notebook. Get ready to write! During Reading Block, we will review how to read to yourself (DEAR) effectively and in a meaningful way. During Social Studies we will learn about Landmarks!

At 1:00 PM, we will head over to the Elementary School to watch a movie in honor of Film Fest!
