| The Painted Essay Format |
Ask your student what a painted essay is... The painted essay model helps students organize a 4 paragraph essay. The first and most important paragraph, the context paragraph, hooks in the reader, provides background knowledge about the topic and then states the focus (thesis) of the essay. Color-coding the focus sentence helps the writer understand the organization of paragraphs.
